Book Scanning and Digital Archiving
Dash’s book scanning service turns your records into a digital archive that can save you money, storage space and time in finding records.
Storing records and important information digitally means you can:
- Safeguard information against loss: because the data is backed up off-site
- Save space: No more rooms dedicated to boxes of files, everything is stored electronically, and
- Increase the speed of information retrieval: use the search facility to find what you’re looking for.
Public-facing records benefit from being available digitally and providing this improves access to the people looking for them, resulting in an improved service for your customers.

How does book scanning work?
Our scanning technology includes a book scanner, which captures images and uses software to ‘straighten out’ pages. This means the resulting image looks straight, without the curvature of the page. The inherent geometrical correction also means the characters, words and spaces appear as they should, without distortion. The process is all done on the computer, without removing pages from the bindings or harming them in any way.
Once the pages of a book or documents are scanned, we can ‘tidy up’ the images, apply borders, etc., to give clean, legible pages which can then have Optical Character Recognition (OCR) applied to enable full text searching in PDF, HTML, XML or other format. Scanned images can be fully indexed to your needs and are supplied as JPEG images or in Adobe Acrobat format.
We look after your documents
